ગીધ ઉર્ફે જટાયુ/ગરજાળા કુદરતનું અવ્વલ પાયરીનું એક ઉત્તમ સફાઈ કામદાર છે. જંગલ અને સિમ વિસ્તારમાં સિંહ દીપડા દ્વારા શિકાર કરાયેલ અથવા કુદરતી મૃત્યુ પામેલા પ્રાણીઓ ને કલાકો માં ખોખું બનાવી દે છે. જો ગીધ નહીં રહે તો ભયંકર રોગચાળો ફેલાવાની ભીતિ રહેલી છે. કુદરતી પરિઆવાસો નો નાશ અને ઢોરને દુખાવા માટે આપવામાં આવતી diclofenac દવાના ઉપયોગ ને કારણે તો છેલ્લા દસ વર્ષો માં તેની વસ્તી અધધ 90% થી પણ વધુ ઘટી જવા પામી છે. Long Billed Vulture/Indian Vulture ની સૌથી વધુ સંખ્યા આપણાં ગુજરાતમાં ગિરનાર પર જોવા મળે છે માટેજ તેને ગિરનારી ગીધ નામ આપવામાં આવેલું છે. ગિરનાર પર રોપવેનું કામ શરૂ થયા પેલા એક સાથે 40 ગીધ ના ટોળાં મેં ખુદ જોયેલા છે. એ અરસા માં ગીધની વસ્તી આશરે 70-80 જેવી હતી. પરંતુ રોપેવેનું કામ શરૂ થયા બાદ અને આજની રોપવેની નિયમિત અવરજવરથી આટલી મોટી સંખ્યામાં એક જગ્યા એ આટલા મોટા ટોળાં દેખાતા નથી(જોકે અમુક ગીધ રોપવેની ટ્રોલીની બાજુમાં થી સરળતાથી ઉડતા દેખાઈ છે). મારા હમણાના નિરીક્ષણથી અમુક નવી જગ્યાઓએ ગીધ દેખાઈ રહ્યા છે જ્યાં પેહલામેં જોયેલા નહોતા. રોપવેના ડિસ્ટર્બન્સને કારણે તેમનામાં થી ઘણા ગીધ ગિરનાર ની પડખે, પાછળ અને અન્ય ટેકરીઓ માં સ્થળાંતર કરી ગયા છે એવું જણાઈ છે. રોપેવેમાં પ્રવાસ કરતા સમયે આ પાંચ સાડા પાંચ ફૂટનીં પહોળી પાંખો ધરાવતી કુદરતી અજાયબીને જોવાનું ચુકતા નહીં. પ્રસ્તુત તસ્વીર ગિરનારી ગીધની છે. #indianvulture #vulturesofinstagram #longbilledvulture #girnarwildlifesanctuary #algaari #jaigirnari #jaigirnar #canonsx50 #raptor #birdsofprey #natureinfocus #indianwildography #wildlife #natgeo #wildplanetcover #indian_wildlifes #junagadh #gypsindicus #girnationalpark #clawsnwings #claws_n_wings #earthpix #indianwildlifeofficial #sanctuaryasia #wildlife #instawildlife #birdstagram #birdsofinstagram #elite_raptors #BBCwildlifePOTD #NGTindia
