EF Xuzhou

This Tuesday, our students and staff took part in a football Life Club at the Olympic Stadium. Students from across all 5 schools in Xuzhou joined together in lots of fun-filled activities and learning football skills, before finishing the evening with a friendly football match. Life Clubs give our students extra opportunities to practice their English outside of the classroom, and learn useful skills such as working together as a team, listening skills and communication skills. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” Swipe and see how much fun the students had together. We can’t wait to share more citywide Life Clubs with you over the coming months.

Meet Alet, a specialist teacher who’s been working at EF School 1 for almost 3 years. Originally from South Africa, Alet made the move to China in 2018 after completing her degree at North West University. Here are 3 things she loves about working here at EF Xuzhou.
β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
- Having the opportunity to learn and grow from your time here. Like myself, many of our teachers don’t have any prior teaching experience. Learning as you go means you pick up so many skills, such as organisation, time management and flexibility, that will be useful in any future career. Living and working in a very different country from your own can have its challenges, but you overcome things you never thought possible. The personal growth you experience is amazing.

- The safety of living in China. Xuzhou is a very safe city, and crime rates are extremely low. Issues that you worry about when in your home country aren’t big issues here. I always feel incredibly safe, and very lucky to have the opportunity to live and work in China.

- Making friends from all over the world. Our staff come from many countries, having very different cultures, religions and languages. Having the opportunity to meet people and learn from them is one of my favourite things about this job. You make friends for life.

Winters in Xuzhou are cold, and this year has been no exception.
