Today was a beautiful day in White Rock and South Surrey, and we couldn't help but feel grateful for the place we call home. The past year has been filled with uncertain and unpleasant moments for many, but we want to remind you that there are still so many little things to be appreciative of every single day. Today, our team is grateful for: 1. Sunshine! ☀️ 2. The air we breathe. 🌬️ 3. Our generous community of donors. 💛 4. Our dedicated team of volunteers. 😊 5. Life-saving medical equipment at Peace Arch Hospital. 🏥 6. The ability to connect virtually with YOU through social media! 📱 What were you most grateful for today? Let us know in the comments below!
Goodness. It needs to begin somewhere. And if not now, then when? Let goodness begin with you. Be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people today. 💙
Cheers to the sunshine today! ☀️ Did you know that adding fruits, vegetables, or herbs to your water tastes AMAZING and has great health benefits? Some benefits include: boosting immune function, increasing energy levels, toxin removal, increased hydration, and improving your mood. Plus, it tastes delicious! 🍋🌿 We like the idea of the following combos: - Cucumber + Mint - Watermelon + Lime - Strawberry + Basil - Lemon + Ginger Love this idea? It’s never too early to start learning about health and wellness! 2-year-old Wren (whose Mommy is a nurse!) can already recite the body’s major organs. Great job, Wren! 👏🏻 Healthy communities don’t just happen... They are built by caring people who want to make a difference. We believe that to effect change upstream and keep people out of the hospital, a healthy lifestyle is key. Peace Arch Hospital will always be here if you need it, but with committing to being as healthy as possible, hopefully you won’t. 💛
Today's children won't live as long as their parents due to an alarming decrease in physical activity and the many diseases and health issues caused by inactivity. Additionally, many adults and seniors are facing chronic health conditions that lead to medical interventions and worsen due to a lack of exercise and recreational activities. We believe that to effect change upstream and keep people out of the hospital, a healthy lifestyle is key. Peace Arch Hospital will always be here if you need it, but with committing to a being as healthy as possible, hopefully you won't. 💪 Learn more about how you can #MoveForLife by visiting http://ow.ly/rPAM50D10va
With help from the Drive for the Cure Foundation, we'll be able to purchase a new Cystoscope for PAH. This device — which features a thin tube with a special camera and light on the end — will be used in cystoscopy procedures to allow medical teams to see the inside of the bladder, helping to detect urinary problems or bladder cancer. Please join us in thanking Drive for the Cure Foundation for this generous gift!
Did you know... 'Healthy Fats' are part of a well-balanced diet. These include monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats, commonly found in items such as avocados, nuts and seeds, vegetable oils, fatty fish, and olives. So what do healthy fats actually do for you? 1. They are a major fuel source for your body, and also help to store energy. 💪⚡ 2. They help you absorb certain nutrients, such as fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) and antioxidants (like lycopene and beta-carotene). 🥬🍋🥕 3. Healthy fats are important in giving your cells structure. 🦠 4. Omega-3 fatty-acids, a type of unsaturated fat, are important for optimum nerve, brain, and heart function.❤️ 🧠 Do you want to see more health + nutrition tips? Leave us a comment below! We're committed to helping White Rock and South Surrey become one of the healthiest communities possible.
In the face of a global pandemic, there are many things that can make us feel fear and worry. And while these feelings won't disappear overnight, some activities — like journaling — can help us process and acknowledge everything that we are going through. When fear and worry asks you to focus on what’s missing, divert your attention to what’s abundant. ✨ Grab your journal and ask yourself these questions: How have others offered you generosity during this time? And how can you show generosity to someone else right now? If you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, let us know in the comments below! ️💛
For many of us, a new year means listing out the resolutions, goals, or intentions that we'd like to implement in our lives. Whether it's getting involved in or giving back to our community, adding physical activity to our daily routine, or eating more nutritious food for optimal health, there are so many great ways we can improve our lives. But how do we describe these resolutions and goals? Are they on a list for "One day".... OR, is today "Day one"? "One day" means that you are delaying the action required to achieve your dreams. "Day one" indicates that you will begin working on something today. So which one is it for you? After all, it’s your decision. But we hope this encourages you to take the FIRST step towards a better year ahead! ✨👟 #goals #resolutions #newyear #2021 #moveforlife
This year, the simple act of giving has been truly transformational. In a time when we needed it most, our community stepped up to help. Whether it was supporting our capital infrastructure, the purchase of essential medical equipment, or funding emergency programs like our COVID-19 Emergency Fund and Rapid Response Grant Program, every gift mattered and it ALL made a difference! 2020 was an unprecedented, challenging year for all in our community and around the world... But we've made it through together. And we have so much to be proud of! This year, we celebrated the grand opening of PAH Foundation Lodge, White Rock and South Surrey’s new 200-bed residential care facility. We also welcomed several new pieces of critical equipment such as a CT Scanner, Portable Ultrasound Machine, and a special 'germ-zapping' UVGI Robot to Peace Arch Hospital. And through the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic, we provided supports to hundreds of PAH staff, local businesses, and other non-profit organizations when they've needed it most. THANK YOU to our amazing community of donors, volunteers, sponsors, partners, medical staff, and friends! We couldn't do what we do without your support. We wish you a safe, happy, and healthy New Year's celebration. We'll see you in 2021! 🎉
As the New Year approaches, we LOVE hearing about your plans for increasing your health, wellness, physical activity, volunteerism and more. These are all great intentions... But what about a resolution to take care of ourselves, our loved ones, and our community through careful, thoughtful estate planning? 📝 Many of our donors support the Foundation with a legacy gift (a gift in their will) to show their appreciation for the care they or a loved one has received. Their gift completes a circle of care for each other that goes on to benefit so many other people in our community. 💫 Interested in learning more? Visit 👉🏻http://ow.ly/RRf850CXJjC to read about the variety of ways you can leave a legacy gift, as well as some helpful tips on estate planning from local advisors.
Merry Christmas from our Foundation family to yours! Thank you all for your dedication to keeping our community safe and for supporting your local hospital with such generosity. We look forward to seeing you again in the New Year when it is safe to do so. 💛
Christmas is a great reminder that the best kind of joy comes from giving back to others. 💛 Visit pahfoundation.ca/give to learn how you can support your community hospital this holiday season. For a limited time, all gifts will be MATCHED by a generous matching donor!
Peace Arch Hospital is looking very merry and bright this Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! ✨
There is no better way to end the year than by giving back to your community 💛

Because it’s only a matter of time before you, a member of your family, or a close friend will come through the doors of Peace Arch Hospital in need of immediate care. Your donation today will help ensure we’re ready for you. It's the most meaningful gift you can give this holiday season. Visit pahfoundation.ca/give to learn more.

We miss our annual events just as much as you do, but it's important that we keep each other safe. With social gatherings limited this holiday season, try these activities instead: - Going for a walk outside. - Dropping off gifts or food items to loved ones at a safe distance. - Consider hosting virtual parties and/or religious services. - Unwrap any gifts over Zoom or Skype. - Send a handwritten card. - Spread joy to others through random acts of kindness. Leave a comment below to tell us how you are celebrating safely this holiday season! 💙
Santa's view of Peace Arch Hospital is pretty sweet from way up in the clouds! 🎅✨
Our three existing operating rooms were not built to accommodate modern medical practices and procedures. Wait lists are long, and that means many patients need to transfer to other hospitals for important surgeries. This is difficult for any patient, and difficult on the families who support them. This Christmas, help us increase the quality and quantity of surgical treatments we provide. Our new OR will be built to the best practice standards for modern surgical requirements, and ensure our hospital is prepared for all needs over the next 20 years. Learn more at pahfoundation.ca/give
THANK YOU Rotary Club of White Rock Peace Arch Peninsula for the generous $8,800 gift to purchase a new Sabina Mobile Lift for our Al Hogg long-term care residence facility. This lift will help patients who need assistance with mobility, allowing them to transferred safely.
By order and direction of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), all events and social gatherings were suspended to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions and travel. The order is in effect from November 19, 2020 at midnight to January 8, 2021 at midnight. All December celebrations will look different this year, but it's important that we keep each other safe. If you are in doubt, just remember... There's no place like home this holiday season! 💙

Despite today's rain, our spirits are bright! Special thanks to the @royalcanadianlegion #008 for their wonderful gift of $10,000 towards our COVID-19 Emergency Fund. This gift will help us continue to supply Peace Arch Hospital with the funds necessary to provide our healthcare workers with immediate comforts and needs like food, hotel and/or respite stays. In addition, it will provide Peace Arch Hospital with the ability to purchase any critical equipment, medical devices or additional necessities as needs arise. Please join us in thanking our veterans and their families for this generous donation! ❤️

Today is GivingTuesday, a time when charities, companies, and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday. Will you join with us today to help 'wrap up' funding for Peace Arch Hospital's Operating Suites? You'll have DOUBLE the impact when you give now, because your donation will be doubled by a generous local group: The Master Painters and Decorators Association. Learn more and make your gift today by visiting pahfoundation.ca/give 🎁
We hope that you will join us for the 8th annual GivingTuesday, taking place tomorrow, December 1, 2020. GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday. If you are inspired to give back tomorrow, please visit pahfoundation.ca/give to make your gift online, OR give us a call to speak with a member of our team. 💛
As First Responders, Surrey and White Rock Fire Fighters consistently go above and beyond to protect and serve our community. In that same spirit, they have now completed an incredible $500,000 donation pledge to Peace Arch Hospital’s new ER. We are so very grateful for their generosity and their service! ❤️
Remember, we're not just building to meet current health care needs. We're building to meet the needs of future generations... including the most precious little ones in your life today and still to come. 💛
With only three Operating Rooms, we don’t have the capacity to efficiently take care of everyone who needs surgery at Peace Arch Hospital. Wait lists are long, resulting in many patients having to be transported to other hospitals. It's a testament to the skill, flexibility and perseverance of our surgeons and staff that they have continued to deliver superb care for our patients in such cramped and outdated facilities. But now the conditions have become unacceptable for patients and for staff, and the demands keep growing. The time to give is now! Help us 'wrap up' funding for a new OR this holiday season by visiting www.pahfoundation.ca/give
