Chaka Lake is also known as the mirror lake because of the crystal clear reflections in its waters. These waters contain a high amount of salt. #travel #explore #travelinchina #china #expat #liveabroad #teachabroad #lifeinchina #travelbug #lakes #chakalake

Traditional food here is a mixture of flavorful spices. The meals are heavy with meat (yak, cow, lamb, and mutton) and veggies. While some may claim its spicy, compared to the rest of China the food is not too spicy since there's a mixture of Mongolian, Muslim, and Tibetan cultures here. #foodporn #foodie #travel #travelinchina #qinghailake #travelabroad #travelbug #expat #liveabroad #yum

Qinghai Lake is the largest lake in China and is known for its bluish-teal waters. It is home to numerous species of waterbirds and the nearly extinct Przewalski's gazelle. Around here, the hills are spotted with yurts, livestock, yaks, goats, sheep, and horses. During the summer months, rapeseeds cover the area surrounded by lush, green mountains. For many, Qinghai Lake is a holy spot. The waters are meant to cleanse you. Swimming isn't allowed here. #qinghailake #lakes #travel #travelabroad #travelinchina #qinghai #historical #explore #adventure #beautiful #vacation #sunnyday #pure

What's the difference between a yak and a cow? πŸ€”πŸ§ Cows can handle most climates and are good with even hot ones. Some of them grow horns in various shapes and sizes while some never grow any. Yaks on the other hand are similar to the highland cattle. Their coats are made for extremely cold climates, but their tails are like a horse's tail. Unlike the other types of bovines, yaks have similar shaped horns to each other that go in the same direction. Also, yaks tend to grunt instead of moo. #yaks #explore #outside #wilderness #travel #travelabroad #liveabroad #expat #teachabroad #learn #culture #beautiful

Kumbum Monastery (known in Chinese as Ta'er Monastery) was built in the early 1400s and housed numerous monks. *FUN FACT! Since monks don't drink alcohol, the closest thing to it is Coke. So, they have found a love for drinking coke. Bonus! They believe it helps with digestion haha #explore #travel #history

πŸ˜‚ This sums up how it is in class. Man, I love how each of my kids are unique.
